Black Walnut Pound Cake

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup black walnut pieces
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 cup butter 2 sticks, softened
  • ½ cup shortening
  • 4 eggs
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 1 cup sour cream


  • Preheat oven to 325°F.
  • Grease and flour bundt pan.
  • Combine flour and baking powder. Mix in nuts until well covered.
  • In a separate bowl, mix sugar, butter, and shortening until creamy.
  • In a separate bowl, mix milk, eggs, and sour cream.
  • To the bowl of creamed sugar, add the dry ingredients in thirds, alternating with wet ingredients.
  • Pour the batter into the bundt pan. Bake 1 hr and 15-30 min or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
